How We Verify Prices
A price is only useful if you can trust where it came from and how old it is. So our rule is simple: no source, no price. Every price on Nepgadgets carries the name of the retailer or listing it was taken from, and the date it was last checked.
How a price gets on the site
1. Collect
We gather prices from the places Nepali buyers actually shop: retailer online stores, official brand and distributor listings, and published price lists. A price we cannot trace to a real listing never reaches the site.
2. Cross-check
Where more than one source lists the same model and variant, we compare them. When sources disagree, the price from a retailer actually selling the product wins over a general price list — and every variant (storage, RAM) is priced separately, never guessed from a sibling model.
3. Publish with source + date
Every price on Nepgadgets is published with the name of its source and the date it was checked. That label travels with the price everywhere it appears — product pages, price hubs and comparisons.
4. Re-verify in sweeps
Prices in Nepal change with stock, promotions and the exchange rate. We re-check listings in regular verification sweeps and update the verified date when a price is confirmed or corrected. The date on a price is your freshness signal: the older it is, the more care you should take before travelling to buy.
MRP vs. the price you actually pay
Many gadgets in Nepal carry an official maximum retail price (MRP) set by the brand or distributor. The street price — what a retailer actually sells at — can be the same, or lower during promotions. We publish the selling price we find at the source, labelled with that source, rather than assuming the MRP is what you will pay. When only an official list price exists for a model, that is the price we show, and its source says so.
Expected prices are labelled, never disguised
For products that have been announced but not yet launched in Nepal, we sometimes list an expected price so you can plan. These are always badged “Expected” and are replaced with a verified selling price once the product is actually on sale. An expected price is an estimate — never a promise.
Changes are kept, not overwritten
When a verified price changes, the previous price stays in the product's price history. That record is deliberate: it lets you see whether a “discount” is a genuine drop or the same price dressed up, and it keeps us accountable for every figure we have published.
Found a price that looks wrong?
Prices move faster than any database. If you see a price on Nepgadgets that no longer matches the shop or listing, tell us — email hello@nepgadgets.com with the product, the price we show, and the correct price with where you saw it. We re-check the source and fix the listing if it's wrong, under our corrections policy.
